Setting up VPN means that you can access your MLC School shared drive or Denbigh offsite.

  1. Open System Preferences. Click Network. You will find this located in the Applications folder or by clicking on the Apple logo in the top left of the screen and then clicking on System Preferences. 
  2. Click on the + symbol on the bottom left hand side. In the Interface drop down, select VPN. In the VPN Type drop down, select IKEv2 and then click Create.

3. The Server Address is mlc-school-burwood.safenetbox.biz and the Remote ID is also mlc-school-burwood.safenetbox.biz. The Local ID is your own MLC username. Click on the box next to Show VPN status in menu bar.

4. Click Authentication Settings and make sure the authentication type is Username. Add your own MLC username and password and click OK and then click on the check box Show VPN status in menu bar. Click Apply on the bottom right hand side and you have now setup your Mac to use MLC’s VPN connection from home.

5. To connect, click on the VPN icon in your menu bar and select Connect VPN (IKEv2).

Remember to disconnect from the VPN when finished by clicking on the VPN icon again and selecting Disconnect VPN (IKEv2).

6. If it shows "User Authentification failed", it is due to the following reasons:

  • You type a wrong username or password. 

                     Solution - Check your credentials again, make sure the username is your MLC shortname, the password is your Email password.

  • You type a wrong server address or remote ID.

                     Solution - Check the server address and remote ID in the above instruction again. Make sure they are the same.

  • You are using your personal MacBook, and it doesn't have a trusted school Internet certificate.

                     Solution - If you are using a non-school device, please download and install the byodupdater.pkg and cacert 2.cer from the following links.
